Is Cooking Work?

It seems that I like to cook. I had some people over to my house yesterday, as I had the day off. I made chicken curry, and rolls for the occasion. My basic rules for feeding people are that there should always be enough food that everyone gets as much as they want, and that the food should be good enough that they want as much as they can have.

I think the total food preparation time was probably three hours, but it didn’t seem long at all. I really have a good time cooking whenever I do it.

So I pose the question, is cooking work. For me, I would say “no.” Unfortunately, I don’t have time to cook good meals very often.

    Hmmm….

Well I assume “work” means you feel like you HAVE to do something, and “pleasure” means you feel like you GET to do it. Is it cheating to invent a new category for pleasurable work? “Plurk” perhaps? I think that’s how I usually feel about cooking.

Anyway, I’m sad I missed a chance to have more curry.

I love the idea of Plurk, although I don’t know if I agree with the spelling. Plork may be mispronounced, but I feel like it captures the spirit of the English language better.

Funny, I actually debated over the spelling, but decided I wanted to be sure the pronunciation was clear. You’re right though, no true English word should be pronounced intuitively. :)
