I’ve broken my arm

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

I broke my arm on Thursday while I was playing basketball. It’s not a serious break, but it’s enough that I can’t use that hand to type, so my typing is a bit slower than normal. I think the most annoying thing about having a broken arm is not being able to tie my own shoes. It does however have some benefits. For example, I don’t have the ability to change diapers. It looks like I’ll be able to get the cast off in just a few days. I can’t wait for that.

Dream Journal Entry 1

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

From some reason the southern half of Utah decided to go to war with the northern half of Utah. The northern half of Utah was ordered to meet at large parking garage. The garage was gigantic, probably able to hold around 500,000 cars. We packed our families up and drove in a van to the parking garage. We all got out and assembled near the entrance. Straight off the entrance about 1000 yards away was a large grassy hill. We waited there only a few minutes and thousands of people started to appear over the ridge of the hill. They came running towards us and we started to fight them with our bare hands. After awhile of fighting we started to talk to them and decided that fighting was a bad idea. Then, the parking garage turned into an Egyptian cavern. It was still shaped a lot like the parking garage, but there were hieroglyphics on the walls. The cavern was inhabited by an evil demon. I spent the rest of my dream running and hiding from the demon.

October Sky: Hulu does entire movies too.

The Arrested Development Pilot

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

You’ve heard me talk about how much I like Arrested Development before, but now I can actually show you it. This is the first episode and I’ll just have to say that you need to watch a few episodes before you get in to it. So here it is:

hulu.com

Since NBC decided to pull it’s shows from iTunes they have released a number of ways to view their content on the computer. First you can buy and download episodes from Amazon.com. Second, you can stream then from NBC’s website. Third you can use the Windows only NBC Direct service that allows you to download and use the video for a week. The option that I want to show you today is a service called hulu.com. This is not only NBC shows, but shows from various networks. Hulu is currently in a private beta period and I was lucky enough to get an account. Hulu allows you to embed t.v. shows in your website just like you would with a YouTube video. Here is an example:

Here’s a picture of a flash menu I started building. It’s a pretty interesting concept that was originally found elsewhere. I just wanted to see if I could do it. Click on the image above to see the menu in action.

The most random of all posts

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

I’m sitting here working and I’ve decided that I will write a really random post. Here goes:

The last time I had an ice cream cone a very strange thing happened to me. I was walking down the street licking my ice cream cone as usual when the earth started to shake. In the center of the street a manhole cover dissolved into a blue liquid and sunk down into the manhole. I looked around to see if anyone had noticed, but everyone continued to act as if nothing had happened. I walked over to the manhole and looked down into it. To my surprise I didn’t see the sewer as I had expected, but I saw the floor of a dense rain forest. I immediately dropped my ice cream cone, which had melted down my hand, and started to climb down the ladder into the manhole. As I made my way down the manhole I realized that I was about 10 feet above the hard rain forest ground beneath me. I looked back up through the manhole and saw the sky through the circular opening. Then, the ladder disappeared right through my grip and I fell painfully to the earth. I looked up and the manhole and the world that I came from closed slowly…

Stay tuned for more.
